This is Clematis pitcherii, a little bell-shaped flower. It is perennial even here in hot zone 9 but not terribly vigorous. It's especially pretty this year because the coral vine hasn't crowded it out yet! Thanks!
I did wonder too about-- this bloom. It's very pretty.I'm glad I now know.
