This is part of a family that lives in a pine tree at our garden center. The parents built the nest right there, and don't seem troubled by us watching them all the time. I can tell you, they watch us right back! There are two young ones, Huey and Louie, and they are Red-Shouldered Hawks. Smaller, but prettier, than our Red-Tailed Hawks. We love them very much.
What a great picture! You can consider yourself very lucky to be able of taking a picture like that. We can see some Hawks "cruising" above our neighborhood but I have never spotted a nest. Thanks for sharing this great picture, Elizabeth. Best Regards Paula Jo
Oh...how beautiful! You were able to catch a glimpse of something very special.
ReplyDeleteHow fast kids grow up these days! I wonder if you could get a pic of its tiny iPhone.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, yes it is fabulous, but what the heck is it? I don't recognize the species.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, this is a wonderful find. Amazing you got such a good image too. I thought they fly away from the nest when approached.
